The toilet struggles to clear completely with a single flush
Sounds from the bowl after flushing, or from the toilet when another fixture drains nearby
Rises toward the rim after flushing before it drops
Persistent, doesn’t resolve with cleaning
If your shower, sink or laundry are also slow or backing up, the blockage is in the main sewer line
If multiple fixtures are backing up at the same time, stop using water in the property and call us immediately on .
If multiple fixtures are backing up simultaneously, the problem isn’t in the toilet itself. It’s in the main sewer line below the house. See our blocked drains page.

EXCELLENT Based on 103 reviews Posted on Google Douglas Macpherson10 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I called Champion Plumbing & Drains because of their advertised "$0 call-out fee" to replace two laundry taps and a washing machine hose. Once on-site, the technician showed me an official quote on a screen for $1,300. To be clear: the replacement parts cost less than $50 at Bunnings, and the entire job took me 20 minutes to complete myself once I sent them away. I followed up via their official web chat to ask if this $1,300 figure was the standard company rate for such a minor task. They failed to respond. This business model relies on a "free" hook to get inside your home, followed by an astronomical quote thousands of percent above market rates. It is an exploitative tactic. Inner West residents: please look for a plumber with transparent pricing and avoid this company.Posted on Google Sally Oughton6 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Recurring blocked toilets are almost always either foreign objects being flushed, or root intrusion in the sewer line. A camera inspection shows which it is.
Yes. Turn off the water supply valve behind the toilet first, then call us on . We’re available 24/7.
Recurring blockages are almost always caused by one of two things: foreign objects being flushed (wipes, sanitary products, cotton pads, paper towels) or tree root intrusion in the sewer line. If the same toilet has blocked more than once in the past year, we recommend a CCTV camera inspection to identify the exact cause before it becomes a bigger job.
Yes. An overflowing toilet can cause water damage to flooring, subfloors and neighbouring rooms within minutes, and sewage water carries health risks. Turn off the water at the isolation valve behind the toilet (or at the mains if you can’t find it) and call us on . We offer 24/7 emergency plumbing across Sydney’s Inner West and can usually have a licensed plumber on site the same day.
A plunger is fine for minor blockages and worth a try. Chemical drain cleaners, however, we’d advise against, they rarely clear the actual blockage (especially foreign objects or roots), they can damage older pipes, and they make the job more hazardous for the plumber who eventually clears the line. If a plunger doesn’t fix it within a few attempts, stop and call us rather than risk a bigger mess.
That means the blockage isn’t in the toilet. It’s further down in the main sewer line below the property. Stop using water anywhere in the home and call us immediately on . Continuing to run water while the main line is blocked pushes sewage back up through the lowest fixture, which is usually a shower drain or ground-floor toilet.
