What's Causing It?

Foreign objects: baby wipes, cotton pads, sanitary products, paper towels, children’s toys. None of these break down in water. They catch on pipe joints and accumulate until the line blocks completely.

Tree root intrusion: in older Inner West homes where the sewer line runs near large established trees, roots work through cracked pipe joints. If you’ve had the same toilet blockage more than once in the past year, root intrusion is worth investigating with a camera.

A partial sewer line blockage: if the blockage is further down in the main sewer line, the toilet is usually the first fixture to back up.

If your shower, sink or laundry are also slow or backing up, the blockage is in the main sewer line

How We Clear It

We start with a CCTV camera inspection, where possible. For most blocked toilets, high-pressure jet blasting clears the line in a single visit. For foreign object blockages, we remove the object and flush the line clean. If the camera shows root intrusion, we cut back the roots, re-inspect, and if the pipe wall is cracked we’ll talk you through pipe relining.

Not the Toilet, The Sewer Line

If multiple fixtures are backing up simultaneously, the problem isn’t in the toilet itself. It’s in the main sewer line below the house. See our blocked drains page.

What to expect on price

Standard toilet blockages are cleared from $139. That covers the call, the on-site assessment, and clearing using a drain snake or targeted equipment for routine blockages. More serious issues, a blocked sewer line, tree root intrusion, or a cracked pipe section, are quoted separately once a CCTV inspection confirms the cause. You’ll get the full price before we start. $0 call-out fee on standard service bookings.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS
ARE SAYING

FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

A plunger will clear a small toilet paper blockage if you act early. Anything more stubborn, especially baby wipes or hygiene products, needs professional clearing. Forcing a stuck blockage with a plunger can push it deeper into the line or crack the trap. If two minutes of plunging hasn’t worked, call us.

Same-day service across the Inner West. A simple bowl or trap blockage is usually clear in 30 minutes once we’re on site. Blocked sewer lines take longer because we use a CCTV camera to find the cause first. Call us today and we’ll be at the door same day, often within the hour.

Recurring toilet blockages usually point to one of two things: tree roots growing into the sewer line, or a cracked pipe holding debris. In older Inner West homes with original clay pipes, both are common. We run a CCTV camera through the line to find the cause so the next fix is the last one. Lifetime labour guarantee on every job.
