Burwood has a wide mix of housing. Around Burwood Park and the quieter streets off Belmore Street, you’ll find Federation-era cottages and post-war brick homes, many still running on original galvanised or copper pipework that’s well past its useful life. Closer to Burwood station, newer townhouses and duplexes sit alongside the older housing stock, each with their own plumbing quirks.
Champion Plumbing & Drains handles it all. We deal with burst pipes in ageing weatherboard homes on Neich Parade just as comfortably as we clear blocked drains in the older brick homes off Railway Parade. Whether you’re a homeowner or a landlord, we bring the same approach – upfront pricing, same-day service where possible, and a lifetime labour warranty on every job we complete.
We’re a family-owned Inner West plumbing team, and Burwood falls within our core service area. That means faster response times, local knowledge of common plumbing issues in the area, and none of the call-centre runaround you get with the big franchise outfits.
Every suburb has its patterns, and Burwood is no exception. Here’s what we see most often when we’re called out to jobs in the area:
Ageing pipework in older homes: The residential streets around Burwood Park – think Lucas Road, Neich Parade, Wyatt Avenue – are full of homes built between the 1920s and 1960s. Many still have original galvanised steel or earthenware sewer lines. These corrode internally over decades, leading to reduced water pressure, brown water, and eventually burst pipes. We regularly reline or replace pipework in these older Burwood properties.
Blocked drains and tree root intrusion: The established street trees along Burwood’s residential roads send roots into ageing sewer lines, particularly the original earthenware pipes still under many homes. We use CCTV inspection to pinpoint the blockage and jet blasting to clear it without digging. Where pipes are structurally compromised, pipe relining repairs them from the inside.
Hot water failures: Whether it’s an ageing electric system in a fibro cottage or a gas storage unit in a family home near Wentworth Park, hot water breakdowns don’t wait for a convenient time. We carry common replacement parts and can often restore hot water on the same visit.
Gas fitting and compliance: Burwood has a mix of natural gas and electric properties. For gas homes, we handle everything from cooktop installations to gas leak detection and compliance certificates – all by licensed gas fitters.
We’re not the only plumber who services Burwood, but there are a few reasons locals keep calling us back:
Upfront, fixed pricing: We quote the job before we start. No hourly rates ticking away, no surprise charges on the invoice. You know exactly what you’re paying before we pick up a tool.
Lifetime labour warranty: Every job we complete comes with our lifetime labour warranty. If our workmanship ever fails, we come back and fix it – no charge, no time limit.
Same-day service: Most Burwood jobs can be attended the same day you call. We run dedicated Inner West vans, so there’s usually a team nearby.
Licensed and insured: Fully licensed (NSW Fair Trading), insured, and police-checked. We carry all required certifications for gas work, backflow prevention, and stormwater drainage.
We clean up after ourselves: Simple thing, but it matters. We leave the work area the way we found it – no mess, no debris, no muddy boot prints through the house.
Safe Hands. Reliable Service. Champion Results.

EXCELLENT Based on 103 reviews Posted on Google Douglas Macpherson10 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I called Champion Plumbing & Drains because of their advertised "$0 call-out fee" to replace two laundry taps and a washing machine hose. Once on-site, the technician showed me an official quote on a screen for $1,300. To be clear: the replacement parts cost less than $50 at Bunnings, and the entire job took me 20 minutes to complete myself once I sent them away. I followed up via their official web chat to ask if this $1,300 figure was the standard company rate for such a minor task. They failed to respond. This business model relies on a "free" hook to get inside your home, followed by an astronomical quote thousands of percent above market rates. It is an exploitative tactic. Inner West residents: please look for a plumber with transparent pricing and avoid this company.Posted on Google Sally Oughton6 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
