Same-Day Plumbing Service Across Sydney’s Inner West! $0 Call Out Fee*
Fill in your details and we’ll call you back within 4 minutes.
Newtown is one of Sydney’s densest inner-city suburbs – a tightly packed grid of Victorian and Federation terraces, workers’ cottages, converted warehouses, and a growing number of modern townhouse developments along King Street and Enmore Road. The suburb’s housing stock is predominantly 1880s to 1920s, with plumbing infrastructure to match.
The narrow lots, shared walls, and rear lane access typical of Newtown’s terrace rows make plumbing work here more complex than in suburban areas. Getting to pipework means working through tight subfloors, navigating party walls, and repairing or replacing without damaging heritage features – original tilework, fireplaces, timber floors, and ironwork that homeowners want to preserve.
On top of that, Newtown’s century-old sewer and water infrastructure creates predictable problems: root-choked earthenware drains, corroded galvanised pipes, and hot water systems that have been patched one too many times. These aren’t occasional issues – they’re the bread and butter of plumbing work in Newtown.
Champion Plumbing & Drains services Newtown regularly. We’re an Inner West-based team with extensive experience working on the area’s heritage housing stock. Same-day service, $0 call-out fee, and a lifetime labour warranty on every job.
Safe Hands. Reliable Service. Champion Results.
We cover every residential plumbing job, including blocked drains, leaking pipes, hot water systems, gas installations and everything in between. Our trucks are fitted with CCTV cameras and high-pressure jetters, and we’re available around the clock for emergency callouts.
Blocked Drains and Tree Root Intrusion: Newtown’s mature street trees – combined with original earthenware sewer lines under most terraces – make blocked drains the single most common plumbing call-out in the suburb. Roots penetrate pipe joints, grow inside the line, and cause recurring blockages. We use CCTV inspection to map the damage, jet blasting to clear the blockage, and pipe relining to permanently seal the pipe from inside – avoiding the excavation that would be destructive in Newtown’s tightly built streetscapes.
Corroded Galvanised Pipes: Most Newtown terraces built before 1920 have galvanised steel water pipes. These corrode internally over a century of use, causing low pressure, brown water, and pinhole leaks inside walls. We replace corroded sections with modern copper or PEX piping, working through existing access points to minimise disruption.
Hot Water in Heritage Homes: Space is at a premium in Newtown. The compact layouts of terrace houses mean hot water systems need to fit tight spaces – under stairs, in narrow alcoves, or on small rear balconies. We install continuous flow systems that mount on an external wall and free up indoor floor space, as well as gas, electric, and heat pump units across all major brands.
Gas Fitting: Many Newtown terraces have gas for cooking and hot water. Our licensed gas fitters handle gas leak detection, appliance installations, and compliance certificates.
Fully licensed NSW plumbing, drainage and gasfitting company. Sydney Water accredited. Fully insured. Lifetime labour warranty on every job. Upfront fixed pricing. Trucks stocked to finish most jobs in one visit. Same-day service. Emergency callouts 24/7 at the same hourly rate as weekday work.

EXCELLENT Based on 103 reviews Posted on Google Douglas Macpherson10 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I called Champion Plumbing & Drains because of their advertised "$0 call-out fee" to replace two laundry taps and a washing machine hose. Once on-site, the technician showed me an official quote on a screen for $1,300. To be clear: the replacement parts cost less than $50 at Bunnings, and the entire job took me 20 minutes to complete myself once I sent them away. I followed up via their official web chat to ask if this $1,300 figure was the standard company rate for such a minor task. They failed to respond. This business model relies on a "free" hook to get inside your home, followed by an astronomical quote thousands of percent above market rates. It is an exploitative tactic. Inner West residents: please look for a plumber with transparent pricing and avoid this company.Posted on Google Sally Oughton6 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We cover all of Newtown 2042, from King Street and Newtown Station through Enmore Road and Erskineville Road, across the residential grid from Australia Street to the Camperdown boundary. We work on Victorian and Federation terraces, semis, shop-top housing and the small amount of modern infill.
Same day for most jobs. Newtown is one of the closest suburbs to our base – we can typically be there within 10–15 minutes. Emergencies are prioritised and attended within the hour. $0 call-out fee.
Yes – it’s a core part of our work. Newtown’s Victorian terraces require careful plumbing that accounts for tight subfloors, party walls, and heritage features. We use techniques like pipe relining to repair drains without digging, and we work in confined spaces regularly.
Our workmanship is guaranteed for life. If any repair or installation fails due to how we did the work, we come back and fix it at no charge. Parts are covered by manufacturer warranties; our labour guarantee has no time limit.
Yes – blocked drains are our single most common call-out in Newtown. We use CCTV to find the cause (usually tree roots in old clay pipes), jet blasting to clear the line, and pipe relining for permanent repair.
No. We come to your Newtown property, assess the issue, and give you a fixed-price quote. If you don’t proceed, you don’t pay anything.
