Poor stormwater drainage can lead to flooding, pooling water, and long-term damage to your home’s foundations. At Champion Plumbing & Drains, we offer professional stormwater drainage services for homes throughout Sydney’s Inner West, helping to manage rainwater safely and effectively.
Our licensed plumbers design, install, clear, and repair stormwater systems that collect surface rainwater from roofs, driveways, and yards, then direct it away from your property to prevent water damage.
Stormwater drainage is the system that removes rainwater from your property. It collects water from gutters, downpipes, surface grates, and paved areas, then carries it through underground pipes to council stormwater mains or approved discharge points.
A properly designed stormwater system prevents rainwater from pooling around your home, flooding your yard, or saturating soil near foundations. Without adequate stormwater drainage, even moderate rainfall can cause damage over time.
You may need stormwater drainage repairs or upgrades if you notice:
These signs often point to blocked stormwater drains, damaged pipes, or drainage systems that are no longer suitable for the property.
We provide complete stormwater drainage solutions tailored to your property and site conditions.
We install new stormwater drainage systems to capture roof and surface runoff and direct it safely away from your home. Each system is designed based on roof area, land slope, and rainfall exposure.
Leaves, silt, dirt, and debris commonly cause blocked stormwater drains. We clear blockages using professional equipment to restore proper water flow and reduce the risk of flooding during heavy rain.
Stormwater pits are installed in low points where surface water naturally collects. Correct pit placement helps intercept water flow and channel it into underground drainage pipes.
We design drainage solutions for yards, driveways, and paved areas where surface water accumulates. This includes surface grates and channel drains to manage runoff effectively.
Poorly positioned or disconnected downpipes can cause water to pool around your home. We connect or relocate downpipes, so roof water flows directly into your stormwater system.
We repair cracked pipes, collapsed drains, damaged pits, and failed connections that cause leaks or blockages. Our repairs restore flow and help prevent surface flooding onsite.
When rainwater is not directed away from your home, it can saturate the soil around the foundations and cause movement over time. This may lead to cracking in walls, uneven floors, and damage to external paving.
Many Inner West homes have older stormwater systems that were not designed for modern roof sizes or current rainfall patterns. Upgrading or repairing your stormwater drainage helps protect your property and reduce the risk of costly repairs.
Safe Hands. Reliable Service. Champion Results.
If your stormwater problems are part of a wider drainage issue, we can help. Visit our Blocked Drains page for solutions covering toilets, sewers, sinks, and showers.
If your issue relates to water building up in the soil around your home, such as soggy ground or pressure near retaining walls, we also provide dedicated Subsoil Drainage solutions designed to manage groundwater below the surface.

EXCELLENT Based on 103 reviews Posted on Google Douglas Macpherson10 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I called Champion Plumbing & Drains because of their advertised "$0 call-out fee" to replace two laundry taps and a washing machine hose. Once on-site, the technician showed me an official quote on a screen for $1,300. To be clear: the replacement parts cost less than $50 at Bunnings, and the entire job took me 20 minutes to complete myself once I sent them away. I followed up via their official web chat to ask if this $1,300 figure was the standard company rate for such a minor task. They failed to respond. This business model relies on a "free" hook to get inside your home, followed by an astronomical quote thousands of percent above market rates. It is an exploitative tactic. Inner West residents: please look for a plumber with transparent pricing and avoid this company.Posted on Google Sally Oughton6 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Stormwater drains should generally be inspected and cleaned at least once per year. Properties with heavy leaf fall or surrounding trees may require more frequent maintenance.
Common signs include water overflowing from pits during rain, pooling water around downpipes or surface grates, and soggy areas in the yard after rainfall.
Stormwater drains carry rainwater away from your property. Sewer drains carry wastewater from toilets, sinks, and showers to the sewer system. The two systems should never be connected.
Timeframes vary depending on the scope of work. Simple repairs or clearing can often be completed quickly, while larger installations or system upgrades may take longer.
