Rhodes sits on a small peninsula between Homebush Bay and the Parramatta River, just across the water from the Inner West suburbs we service every day. While the area around Rhodes station has changed significantly over the past two decades, the quieter residential streets away from the waterfront still contain the older housing stock that makes up the core of our Rhodes workload – post-war brick cottages, fibro homes, and solid 1950s and 1960s dwellings on streets like Mary Street, Blaxland Road, and Cavell Avenue.
These homes were built with the plumbing systems typical of their era: galvanised steel water supply pipes, terracotta sewer lines, and copper gas fittings that have been in service for 60-70 years. The waterfront location adds another layer of challenge – elevated moisture levels and salt-laden air accelerate corrosion on exposed fittings and pipework, meaning Rhodes homes often need attention sooner than equivalent properties further inland.
Champion Plumbing & Drains services Rhodes regularly as part of our broader Inner West and surrounding suburbs coverage. Our licensed team (Licence No. 371639C) delivers the same upfront fixed pricing, lifetime labour warranty, and genuine $0 call-out fee on every Rhodes job. We offer same-day service and can typically reach Rhodes within 30-45 minutes during business hours.
Safe Hands. Reliable Service. Champion Results.
Blocked drains, burst pipes, gas fitting, hot water repairs. Whatever the job, our residential plumbing team has it sorted. We carry jetting equipment and drain cameras on every truck and offer 24/7 emergency service.
Blocked drains from tree roots and ageing pipes. Rhodes’ older homes have terracotta sewer lines that are now well past their expected lifespan. Mature trees in established gardens send roots directly into old clay pipe joints, causing recurring blocked drains. We use CCTV inspection to pinpoint the problem and jet blasting to clear blockages without digging. Where the pipe is structurally sound, pipe relining seals the joints permanently and prevents root re-entry.
Hot water system failures. Many Rhodes homes still have electric storage hot water systems installed during renovations in the 1990s or early 2000s. These systems are now reaching end of life. We supply and install all types – electric, gas, heat pump, and solar – and can usually complete a hot water system replacement the same day you call. Our plumbers will advise on the most efficient option for your household size and existing infrastructure.
Stormwater and waterfront drainage. Rhodes’ low-lying position near the Parramatta River means the water table is relatively high, and properties closer to the waterfront can experience stormwater pooling during heavy rain. Old terracotta stormwater lines in this area are often cracked or partially collapsed. We provide full stormwater drainage repairs, new pit installations, and connection to council mains.
Corrosion and leaking pipes. The waterfront environment in Rhodes accelerates corrosion on galvanised water supply pipes and exposed copper fittings. We see a high rate of pinhole leaks and burst pipes in older Rhodes homes. Our leak detection service uses acoustic and thermal methods to locate hidden leaks in walls, ceilings, and under slabs – pinpointing the source precisely to minimise disruption and repair costs. For emergencies, our burst pipe response is available around the clock.
Fully licensed NSW plumbing, drainage and gasfitting company. Sydney Water accredited. Fully insured. Lifetime labour warranty on every job. Upfront fixed pricing. Trucks stocked to finish most jobs in one visit. Same-day service. Emergency callouts 24/7 at the same hourly rate as weekday work.

EXCELLENT Based on 103 reviews Posted on Google Douglas Macpherson10 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I called Champion Plumbing & Drains because of their advertised "$0 call-out fee" to replace two laundry taps and a washing machine hose. Once on-site, the technician showed me an official quote on a screen for $1,300. To be clear: the replacement parts cost less than $50 at Bunnings, and the entire job took me 20 minutes to complete myself once I sent them away. I followed up via their official web chat to ask if this $1,300 figure was the standard company rate for such a minor task. They failed to respond. This business model relies on a "free" hook to get inside your home, followed by an astronomical quote thousands of percent above market rates. It is an exploitative tactic. Inner West residents: please look for a plumber with transparent pricing and avoid this company.Posted on Google Sally Oughton6 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
