Same-Day Plumbing Service Across Sydney’s Inner West! $0 Call Out Fee*

Dulwich Hill is one of the Inner West suburbs where we see the highest rate of tree root drain blockages. The Moreton Bay figs and elms lining many of its residential streets send substantial root systems into ageing sewer and stormwater pipes – particularly the original earthenware and clay lines that are still in place under many homes.
The suburb’s housing is predominantly Federation and interwar – brick cottages, weatherboard terraces, and California bungalows built between the 1900s and 1940s. Many of these properties have original plumbing infrastructure that’s well past its expected lifespan: galvanised water pipes corroding from the inside, earthenware sewer connections cracked by root pressure, and hot water systems running on borrowed time.
Champion Plumbing & Drains works in Dulwich Hill regularly. We understand the challenges that come with the area’s housing stock and mature street trees, and we carry the equipment to deal with them on the first visit. Same-day service, $0 call-out fee, and a lifetime labour warranty on every job.
Tree Root Drain Blockages: This is the number one call-out reason in Dulwich Hill. Mature street trees – particularly the figs along Constitution Road, Frazer Street, and surrounding streets – send roots into sewer lines seeking moisture. Once roots penetrate a joint or crack, they grow rapidly inside the pipe, catching waste and causing recurring blockages. We run a CCTV inspection every time to assess the full extent of root intrusion, jet blast to clear the blockage, and carry out pipe relining where the pipe has been structurally compromised – sealing it from the inside without excavation.
Hot Water Repairs and Replacements: Dulwich Hill’s older Federation and interwar housing stock means many hot water systems are original or near end-of-life. We handle same-day repairs and replacements for all types – gas storage, electric, heat pump, and continuous flow – across all major brands.
Leaking and Corroded Pipework: The galvanised steel pipes common in Dulwich Hill homes built before the 1960s corrode internally over time, leading to reduced water pressure, discoloured water, and eventually burst pipes. We can replace sections or reroute pipework with modern copper or PEX lines.

EXCELLENT Based on 103 reviews Posted on Google Douglas Macpherson10 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I called Champion Plumbing & Drains because of their advertised "$0 call-out fee" to replace two laundry taps and a washing machine hose. Once on-site, the technician showed me an official quote on a screen for $1,300. To be clear: the replacement parts cost less than $50 at Bunnings, and the entire job took me 20 minutes to complete myself once I sent them away. I followed up via their official web chat to ask if this $1,300 figure was the standard company rate for such a minor task. They failed to respond. This business model relies on a "free" hook to get inside your home, followed by an astronomical quote thousands of percent above market rates. It is an exploitative tactic. Inner West residents: please look for a plumber with transparent pricing and avoid this company.Posted on Google Sally Oughton6 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
