A Concord home was experiencing water pooling at the front door during heavy rain because the downpipe had corroded and was no longer directing water away from the building. We installed a new downpipe and extended the guttering system to properly drain water away from the foundation.

The Problem

The original downpipe had:

Poor drainage can lead to costly foundation damage, damp inside the home, and erosion of the garden.

What We Did

Removed the old corroded downpipe sections
Assessed the existing guttering for damage
Installed new Colorbond downpipe (modern, rust-resistant material)
Extended the downpipe outlet to direct water at least 2 metres from the building foundation
Added a downpipe extension (PVC) to carry water to the storm drain or garden area
Sealed all joints and connections to prevent leaks
Tested the system during the next rain event

The Result

Water now flows safely away from the building. The homeowner will avoid costly foundation repairs and damp-related issues. The new downpipe is rust-resistant and requires minimal maintenance.

Preventative maintenance: Regular gutter cleaning (twice yearly) extends the life of downpipes and guttering.
